Meet Sam!
This beautiful lab mix boy was an owner surrender. He was kept outside in the yard day and night from the moment they brought him home as a puppy. Thankfully they realized that was not a good life for him and brought him to us. Sam is now doing well in one of our foster homes. He is a gentle soul and good with other dogs. He is shy and timid with humans at first, but warms up quickly. He wants to be loved and give love but needs a little time to trust. He is learning good leash manners. Sam needs a more quiet home, with a yard.
Sam will do best in a home with another dog who can help him be more confident. A home with a yard is a must.
From his foster family:
Hi, my name is Sam, I have not read Green Eggs and Ham.
Overall, I am mild mannered puppy who is still potty training. Before I came to foster camp, I was kept in the backyard day and night because of this, I am shy when I meet new people. However, after you've earned my trust, I'll show you my silly, playful, energetic puppy side. While I am nervous in new situations by myself, I am willing to go to new places if I have another dog to show me that its safe.
Since coming to foster camp, I've gone on some fun adventures and am slowly learning that car rides aren't scary. For example, I did great on a long car ride to Ocean Shores. While on the beach, I kept close to my foster sister and watched her for cues. After playing on the beach, I snored for part of the trip home.
I would like you to know that I've gotten better about sleeping in my crate. Sometimes I will go in my crate on my own to rest. At night, my foster mom keeps my crate next to her bed and I sleep through the night in it. I am learning to sit. I love treats! I get treats for going in my crate, for sitting, and when I go into new situations. When I'm not playing with my foster siblings, I'm close to my foster mom asking for love. Foster mom says that other learning to go the bathroom outside, my only other mischievousness is getting into the trash can. BTW, when I see a cat, I bark at it. I may chase it if it runs from me although I have a foster cat sibling and I am slowly learning to share the couch with her.
My ideal family would invest in training me and be patient with me as I learn. I would love an older dog to show me that the world is safe as I build confidence.
Sam will be vaccinated, neutered and chipped. His adoption fee is $495.
