Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Meet Rory, a delightful girl ready to find her forever home! At first, she may be a bit shy, but don't let that fool you-Rory is quick to warm up and reveal her incredibly sweet nature. She has experience living with other dogs and has shown great tolerance with them.
While Rory loves making furry friends, she can be a bit jumpy and overwhelming for young kids. As such, we recommend a home with older children who can appreciate and reciprocate her affectionate energy. If you're looking for a loving companion with a heart as warm as her fur, consider welcoming Rory into your home. She's sure to bring joy and companionship to the lucky family ready to give her the love she deserves!
During my break in a foster home, this is what my foster's wanted to share: "Rory is a super sweet girl that loves to be around people. She seems to worry if she is in a space by herself but is easily calmed once you are near. She was a bit nervous when introduced to new furry friends, so slow, gradual introductions are best. Squirrels did seem to catch her eye when out on walks but when told to "Leave it" she would continue on with good loose leash manners. She has great promise to be someone's special pup!"

More about this shelter
The Maryland SPCA connects wonderful pets to loving owners. We are not affiliated with any national animal organization, and we do not receive any government or United Way funding. Our mission is to prevent cruelty and neglect of animals through fostering the humane relationship between animals and people. We operate primarily in the Greater Baltimore Metropolitan area.
To make sure that our dogs and cats do not contribute to the pet overpopulation problem, every one is spayed or neutered before going into a new home. The cost is included in the adoption fee, as are the costs of shots and other necessary care. In addition, a free Positive Pooch class is available to our dog adopters.
There is no set time limit for how long an animal can remain in our adoption program. As long as an animal maintains general good health and a sound temperament, we keep him or her until adopted. We pride ourselves on providing premium care to the animals in a clean, pleasant environment. Our adoption staff works diligently to pair up adopters with the best animal match for their homes and lifestyles.
We transport animals from other shelters to our adoption center to help more animals get adopted. We also help pet owners find new homes for their pets so their animals don’t need to enter shelter care.
