My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

COURTESY POST: Hello everyone! My name is Annie (short for Anakin)! I’m a super happy, upbeat, loving, 60-pound, approximately 2 year old female Catahoula Leopard Dog Mix. I’m an amazing dog that LOVES kids, other dogs and spending time with people.

I’m very strong and may look intimidating, but I just want a belly rub, time playing with my toys and taking naps in your lap. My favorite games are Tug-of-War and Hide & Go Seek. I love playing Hide & Go Seek because when I find you, I’m truly thrilled and I can cover you with slobbery kisses. Afterwards, we can play again! Also, one of my favorite pastimes is to jump on the trampoline with my person. I love to have fun with everyone!

Some important details about my health: I have all my shots, I’m spayed and I’m in good health. Furthermore, I am potty-trained, crate-trained and very food-motivated!

Unfortunately, my life was not filled with too much joy in my early months. I had puppies, but tragically, they were taken away from me a few days after they were born. Also, I was kicked out of my home and had to find refuge in the cold, dark streets right after I had just given birth. When I was found, I was very thin, scared and sad. Nevertheless, I’m doing much better now and I can’t wait to find a new home! I hope you can consider adopting me because all I want to do is love, be loved and play together! If you adopt me, we will be best friends forever!

We are a RESCUE GROUP, not a shelter, and all of our animals are in foster homes. To start the adoption process, email us at adoptions@earstexas.org requesting an application. Submitting an application does not commit you in any way, but helps us make the best match between people and our available dogs. Your current or past dogs must be inside dogs who have been spayed/neutered and are on heartworm prevention.

All of the dogs in our program are inside dogs and are completely vetted including all vaccinations, spayed/neutered, free of internal parasites, microchipped, heartworm negative and on prevention before adoption. Our adoption process includes an application, check of vet records or personal references, interview, neutral site meet & greet with the dog and your family, and a home visit.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

We do not have a shelter, as all of our rescue animals are living with foster families in private homes. You can meet one of our animals by appointment once your adoption application had been processed and initially approved (final approval occurs right before the adoption is complete). Also, EARS has Meet and Greet Days at various local venues in the Dallas area. We will post the dates and times of the Meet and Greet Days on this website. Meet and Greet Days are an opportunity for you to meet some of our animals. Unfortunately, not all of our animals make it to every Meet and Greet Day so please contact us at adoptions@earstexas.orgto check if your four-legged friend of choice will be available to meet you. (We do not do any onsite adoptions.)

More about this rescue

Education and Animal Rescue Society is an all volunteer, non-profit Texas corporation whose mission is to educate the public about issues concerning animal behavior and proper care for pets including an emphasis on vaccinations, spay and neutering, and nutrition. Further, EARS is committed to finding homes for unwanted animals that would otherwise perish in shelters. EARS keeps all of its animals in homes with volunteer foster families where the animals are loved and treated like a part of the family until the right permanent home is found.
