In Rising Sun, MD - Hi! My name is Kali, or Kalikali, or Kaligirl, or Pretty Girl. I just had a birthday 11/15, and I am now 2 yrs old. I am a gorgeous blue merle female (spayed 11/21/23) with golden brown eyes, but in some of my pics in the sunlight, you can see my (diluted) burgundy spots shine!
I am kind of low key for such a young aussie, and I am a bit shy, especially of men. It took almost a week for me to warm up to my foster dad, but we are good now. (*If my foster pack wasn't already so large (6), I believe my foster dad would like to keep me.) I am still a little leery of new guys though. No aggression, growling, or any of that, I just take my time to approach and may back off if someone comes toward me too quickly, but I am getting better!
I am house broken, crate trained, and I LOVE food!!! I know how to use a doggy door and make no attempts to escape a 4ft fence. I pull a bit on the leash, because there are so many things to sniff, but I will come back to you with some leash correction. I ride quietly in the car, but I expect treats for being a good girl.
I love my humans, including the young ones, and demand cuddles, but I will go find my spot in the same room as you to settle down. I love the sofa, your bed, or my raised doggy bed. I am learning new things slowly because I am very sensitive, and sometimes I get anxious if I can't figure out what you want from me.
I am comfortable with dogs, but I am choosy who I play with..... others, I just ignore, but if someone gets pushy, I will give them a grumble to make them back off,... even a sweet girl needs boundaries.
I do get excited when you come home, and sometimes I can't contain it and stand up to put my paws on you. I am very gentle, but I may knock over small kids. In the morning when everyone wakes up, I sometimes get the zoomies. It is just such a great thing to see you all after a good night's sleep! I am not sure if I had toys before I came to my foster family, but I sometimes pick them up for a quick chew. Not really my thing mostly.
I have been told that I need to learn about personal space. I love to be right under you in the kitchen or under your feet if we change rooms or go outside. I don't get it,.... I just need to be there for you if you should need me. I will follow you quietly right out the door if you are not aware I am there.
I would be ok in a home with or without other doggy siblings, but I have not been exposed to cats where I am staying now. Dog savvy kids over 7 yrs old would probably be best just because I sometimes can not contain my excitement and may cause them to fall.

There is an additional $20 microchip fee wich includes registration and transfer to my new family. All adoption fees are used for future rescue efforts.
