Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This cute, confident little bundle of fun loves to snuggle with the peeps, and rumble with the pups. Wesley is happy-go-lucky, smart, eager to please and easy to have around.
HISTORY
Wesley was abandoned on a country road outside Prosser. A private rescuer took him in to keep him safe, and he ran loose on their property for about 10 months before he was released to HART in June 2023. Since then he has lived in a private foster home, learning how to be a confident, well-behaved member of a family.
SOCIALIZATION
This boy never met a stranger. He is quick to make friends with whoever crosses his path - young or old, male or female, he's confident that you're going to love him and so he preemptively loves you back.
He shares his home with several dogs of different shapes and sizes, and gets on with all of them. He loves to play, and is convinced that he's one of the BIG dogs, so he's completely fearless.
He shared his first foster home with a mean cat that he soon learned to avoid. We'd expect him to be polite and friendly with a confident, dog-savvy kitty.
GENERAL TEMPERAMENT & BEHAVIOR
Wesley would like to share his life with active humans and dogs who enjoy fun times and adventures. He's energetic, alert and interested in whatever is going on around him. He enjoys car rides and isn't fazed by unfamiliar places, and would love t be your road trip companion.
But although he's an energetic, busy little guy, he knows how to kick back and chillax. Wesley is ALWAYS up for a snuggle - and if he's in snuggle mode and you're busy, he'll find himself a warm blankie and snuggle all by his own self, content just to be near you.
He enjoys tag, tug and wrestling with other dogs, and loves toys - especially stuffies, chews and tennis balls.
Wesley is generally quiet, but he may get barky during play. He's also very alert and will let you know if a stranger approaches your house. (He may also let you know when the neighbors get home.)
TRAINING
Wesley doesn't know any actual commands, but he's clearly intelligent and constantly alert to his special person. He is quick to pick up on your cues, and eager to please.
He is reliably crate trained and house trained, walks well on a leash, and comes when called. He'll work for treats, but mostly he responds to praise. He would LOVE to go to school and learn new ways to please and entertain you!
HEALTH STATUS
Wesley has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and treated for parasites. He is in good health.
Based on our vet's opinion and information provided, we have assigned him January 29, 2021 as his birthday. He weighs about 11 lbs.
