My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Adoption Fee:  $300.00

Dalton is a striking Golden Shepherd Male approximately 2 yrs of age.  He is currently underweight at 78 lbs but is on his way to building much needed muscle mass.  As a stray, we know little about his past although this guy wears his heart on his sleeve and would love to share his childhood stories to anyone who will listen.  Invite him for tea and conversation and he will respond with adorable wrinkly expressions of deep interest.

Thus far, this boy shows strong affinity to all humans. He approaches with curious greetings and may even offer you licks in case you don’t notice him.  His desire for human connections conveniently makes for rapid recall, but he may wait for you to join him at his side before venturing outdoors (especially if it’s raining!).  He also may take liberty to hog the human and barge into one’s personal space, often blocking other dogs from approaching.  With appropriate corrections, he rapidly learned appropriate boundaries and will even retreat in humble shame. In fact, since he learned human company is no longer a scarce commodity, he will calmly rest in a comfy bed at a distance and will sit patiently waiting his turn for attention and treats.

Dalton greets other dogs with a calm approach, but he may unknowingly push himself into their personal space. He enjoys his leash walks but can become anxious and vocalize with whiney uncertainty when other dogs are in sight.   With repeated exposures, he is quickly learning to remain ‘calm’ and ignore these triggers including loud vehicles and fence lunging dogs (…but not squirrels).   He shares his current foster home with another female (see Amaretto) with whom he tries to engage in frequent bouts of play.  Her company no doubt offers him confidence and comfort, especially during long days alone while his human is at work.

In the home, Dalton has excellent house manners.  He is housebroken, accustomed to using a dog door, and sleeps well in a crate at night.  He enjoys car rides where he lays quietly for his next adventure.  This guy is ‘goofy’ and is ideal for solid companionship. He is gentle, connected, and wants to be a “Good Boy” for anyone willing to appreciate his grateful soul.
