My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Annabelle is a 2.5 year old female Lhasa Apso that is NOT a lap dog!! Please do not reach out about her for your 70 year old grandmother who needs a companion. She is not that girl. Picking her up is an absolute NO!!! Picture her as a 150 Great Dane whom you wouldn't pick up. If she were a cat, her behavior would be acceptable. (Needless to say, when she poops herself, it can be a real adventure which is why she is currently on a chicken & brown rice diet only drizzled with homemade yogurt!!) Yes, she is adorable. >>> B U T <<< She has learned that if she grumbles & bites, she gets left alone & essentially, gets her way soooo that means, you WILL need to enlist a trainer that is well versed in behavioral. This is a MUST & will be mandatory for adoption unless you show that you yourself are well versed in training & working with snarky pups. She absolutely LOVES to learn & has been doing exceptionally well with clicker training. Absolutely loves it & is so smart!

Her attitude has forced two families that loved her to give up on her. She can't be failed again. She is a very insecure dog that has unwanted behaviors. She CAN be rewired if YOU commit to giving her the right environment & providing yourself with the RIGHT EDUCATION to help her shine.

She can live with another small dog but if she had her say, she would like to be the only dog. She needs an active family because she needs her car rides to the park for her walks as walking around a neighborhood is just too overstimulating.

She will come to you for playing & when she wants pets but you need to keep the interactions brief & FUN to engage & encourage her to want more.

On the plus: She does great at the groomers & the vets office with no issues at all.

Now - if you feel you can commit to Annabelle's education & love clicker training an insecure dog, PLEASE APPLY to be considered. Adoption radius is 150 miles from Jacksonville, FL.

Additional adoption info

In order to ensure a perfect match, we screen all adoption applicants. We require anyone wanting to adopt to complete an adoption application and we check personal and vet references. Final step before files goes to the Adoption Committee for review is to conduct a home visit with all members of the potential adoptive family. Fees for adoptions vary based on whether the dog's purebred, the age and health status of the dog. Contact us via email and we will send you our Adoption Application and tell you a little more about the dog you're interested in adopting!
