Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Emily is a beautiful 4-1/2 year old female Coonhound mix who was surrendered by her family on November 15, 2023 because she was an accomplished 'escape artist' who frequently went on solo adventures from her fenced-in yard.
Emily has a black/tan/white short smooth coat, a long tail, and an adorable black-and-white face with tan eyebrows, a black button nose on her white muzzle, and large black velvet ears which frame her face.
This beautiful girl may look familiar to many of our HSOV volunteers and Facebook fans since she had previously been brought to the HSOV on May 22, 2023 for a very sad reason. Her beloved mistress had passed away at that time, so Emily lost not only her 'person' but also her home as well.
A family member reported (in May 2023) that Emily was good with children and that she was also good with other animals (but didn't specify if that included both cats and dogs).
Emily is housebroken and weighs approximately 55 lbs.
We took preliminary photos of Emily the day she arrived in May 2023 and those pictures broke our hearts to see how sad she was that day. Emily was understandably very frightened and nervous when she found herself in a small kennel after she had always enjoyed a wonderful home with a family who loved her.
These photos were taken late in the afternoon on May 23rd when HSOV Volunteer/Staff Amy Rogers offered to take Emily for a leisurely stroll to the shelter mailbox at the end of our driveway. The 'paparazzi' planned to accompany them on the walk but Emily was a little too apprehensive, so we waited until she was walking back toward to the shelter building and snapped these pictures.
Emily was spayed on June 13, 2023 and was also given rabies vaccine.
Emily is currently being housed in our front office and has her very own soft plush bed to snooze in while she assists our staff (and sometimes sleeps on the job). We want Emily to enjoy out-of-kennel freedom (and extra TLC/attention) to help her know that she is very much loved and that she will find the perfect home soon. Emily is still somewhat shy but is beginning to relax a tiny bit more each day.
We will take updated photos of Emily asap.
