My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

BULLET is a fantastic dog who is being cared for by one of our trusted rescue partners. BULLET is NOT a Woof River dog. Please email Jennifer with your information at HardinARTT@gmail.com and she will reach out to you.

Meet Bullet — full of life and friend to all!
Overlooked for being deaf, four-year-old Bullet has spent most of his life in the shelter. Bullet got his first big break when a volunteer offered to foster in hopes it would help shine a light on what an incredible dog he is.
Bullet is 65lbs, fully vetted, heartworm negative and neutered. He is dog and cat friendly. He is great on a leash, enjoys going for walks, playing with friends and cuddling on the couch. Bullet is as easy and low-maintenance as they come.

Bullet is currently being fostered in Clifton, Tn — 2hrs from Nashville / 2hrs from Memphis. Transport available for the right home.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The first step is completing an adoption application. Once we have received a completed application, we will do our absolute best to process it in 5 business days or less.

***We highly suggest submitting an application describing the type of dog you are looking for even if you don't see that particular dog on our adoptapet page. Many pups in our program are not posted on adoptapet because they get adopted before we have time to post them. We typically have 35 to 50 adoptable pups at all times so we may have your perfect match! Also, there are hundreds of homeless dogs in this area so there is a large chance that just what you are searching for can be found.***

TIP: Provide everything that is requested on the adoption application. For example: if we ask for email addresses and phone numbers that means we need both.

We are all volunteers, but we also respect the time of our adopters. We try to have all applications processed in 5 business days or less. Once your application has been processed we will contact you.

If you are approved, CONGRATULATIONS! We will send you the adoption contract, helpful hints for adopters sheet, spay/neuter contract (for puppies under 6 months), transport information, and payment information. All adoption fees may be paid via PayPal, credit card, or debit card. All payments are handled securely through the PayPal site. However, you do not have to have a PayPal account to pay with credit or debit.

Adoption fees are $340 for Memphis, $390 for Nashville, and $540 for our Knoxville, Midwest, and New England. Adoption fees are a direct result of $340 local adoption fee plus cost of health certificate and transport. The only exception to this pricing would be for puppies under 6 months of age who are already spayed or neutered. Their adoption fees are $390 for Memphis, $440 for Nashville, and $590 for Knoxville, the Midwest, and New England.

Once the adoption is official, we put our adopters in touch with the foster parents. The foster parents are happy to talk with you about your dog's current routine and favorite things. This is priceless in helping you prepare for your new arrival!

In order to qualify for Woof River’s program all of the following steps must be met:

• You must be at least 18 years of age and be able to provide proof of age.
• Any current pets must be up to date on vaccinations and heartworm test, be spayed/neutered, and receive consistent heartworm preventative. Exceptions to this will only be considered if proof of a medical explanation is provided.
• If you currently rent, you must provide a landlord’s phone number and a copy of your executed lease.
• All members of the family living in the home where the animal will be placed must agree be interviewed.
• If needed, you allow a Woof River representative into your home for a visit to insure that your home is safe for the potential new dog.
• Be able and willing to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment and proper care for a pet.

Because we are a volunteer based organization and we receive hundreds of inquiries each day. We are unable to answer all questions until an adoption application has been received.

Go meet their pets

All of our dogs are fostered in the Memphis area. We pride ourselves on being incredible pet matchmakers. 90% of our adoptions are successfully completed long distance via phone calls, emails, photos, and videos
However, we are happy to for you to come to Memphis and meet any of our dogs once you have an APPROVED adoption application on file. We unable to do meet and greets prior to adoption for anyone outside of Memphis, unless you are willing and able to travel to Memphis.

More about this rescue

Woof River Animal Rescue is a 100% volunteer run foster based organization in Memphis, TN. Our mission is to save as many dogs and puppies as possible from high kill shelters and the streets in the South. Each and every dog lives as part of the family in a loving foster home until the perfect forever home is found.

An average of 1200 dogs a month are euthanized in the MidSouth. There are also countless dogs living on the streets without vet care or even shelter. These heartbreaking numbers are the fuel that keeps us working all day every day for free.

We serve all ages and breeds. We believe every dog deserves a chance at a warm, loving home every day of his life - and that new life starts with us!
