Lucky is a senior needing an understanding home. Lucky is about 11 years old. He is timid but at first meeting he might start out like a tough guy, The tough guy is just his fear rising up and he wants to look and act like a big tough guy to protect himself. But what he really wants is to have someone hold him and love him to pieces. And even when he wants to act like a German Shepherd, he weighs in at 5 lbs and only has 2 teeth in his mouth! He needs someone who speaks chihuahua and they will understand him and his ways!
Lucky's Mom went into a nursing home and the family couldn't take him. He was going to a high kill shelter when we intervened. Lucky biggest flaw is that he like so many male chihuahuas is his tendency to mark. He does enjoy going out in the yard if it isn't too cold outside. However he isn't interested in spending a lot of time outside as some dogs do. Lucky will us a pee pad although some times he misses the pad. He also may choose vertical surfaces because he will mark. So to combat this, he should have frequent potty breaks and wear belly bands at home.
Lucky is a bit on the thin side so his family needs to be sure he eats high quality nutritious food. Lucky will do well in a home with a nice tiny chihuahua to sleep and hang out with. Lucky is neutered, had a recent dental, up to date with his vaccinations, He is heartworm negative and microchipped. His adoption donation is $400.00
Lucky is on the hunt for his very own completely committed family, Dogs can live to be 25 years old so he wants to be sure his family is all in for better or for worse!

To adopt any animal from Rescue Tails we require a completed and verified adoption application. Once we can review the application, we can set up a meet and greet. We ask that all members of the household including pets are available for us and prospective pet to meet. Providing that goes well, we will set an appointment with you for a home visit. If all goes well we can proceed to the final step of finalizing the adoption.

Rescue Tails Animal Welfare is dedicated to rehoming pets from high kill shelters. We choose an animal one at a time and evaluate what issues caused the animal to end up in the shelter and address those issues. Most often we find behavioral issues and/or medical issues . We deal with whatever it is to the best of our ability and then place the pet up for adoption to a responsible pet guardian. It is our goal to prevent the pet from returning to the system again. We work with the pets and carefully match them to their forever homes.
