My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Nessy is a 1 year old female American pit bull terrier mix that has been at AWL since 1/28/23. Nessy is playful and enjoys sun bathing, rolling around in grass, and playing fetch. Nessy is people selective and sensitive to smells/scents. AWL uses ONLY unscented laundry detergent as Nessy gets dermatitis. Fragrances, preservatives, dyes, and other chemicals in laundry detergent can cause rashes in people and pets. Laundry detergents can trigger a condition called contact dermatitis, which presents as a red, itchy rash that may be widespread or confined to specific areas like the armpits and groin. A meet and greet for all members of the family (people & pets) is required to ensure she’s found her perfect match! Nessy is looking for her best friend! Could that be you? Nessy is available for adoption, to foster, or just simply going out for walks. Come say hi!

Additional adoption info

The first thing we require the Adopters to do is fill out one of our applications. Once they get that turned into us we call landlords, vets, and references and check to make sure their animals have all been up to date and make sure their landlords( if they have one ) are okay with them bringing home a new animal. We also call the references to make sure they are good animal owners. We will also look at whether or not you have a fenced in yard and how big your yard is ( if adopting a dog). We want to make sure we have the best fit home for the animals. All of our animals have their boosters (adult or puppy). Some are fixed and some are not. We do have a spay/neuter trailer that comes to the shelter at least once a month that spay and neuters our animals.

Go meet their pets
