Hey there! I'm Sam. I am from Kentucky.
First off, let me tell you about my absolute favorite thing: sunshine! Warmer weather means more park adventures and epic walks. My humans are working on teaching me to play fetch, and though I'm still perfecting my recall, I'm already a pro at the basics-sit, down, stay, and bed time (yes, I've got bedtime down to a science).
My personality? Well, let me tell you,. I'm super chill and love being a work buddy, but am also always ready for an adventure with my people
I'm all about puzzles, training, and treats. Dogs and other animals? Not so much. People? Absolutely! I'm a snuggle expert and will happily hang out on my mat while my humans do their thing. When it's time for some fresh air, I'm all in for sniffing and sprinting around the park, especially if it's dog-free. A big yard with a privacy fence would be my dream-just imagine all the room for me to stretch my legs and run free!
My kennel is my cozy retreat, and I totally get that it's bedtime when I'm asked to go in there. I've even taught my foster humans some cool tricks like how to get me to sit, lay down, leave it, and stay. They think I'm the smartest and sweetest girl ever!
A little scoop from my fosters:
I'm a gem with a sprinkle of sass and a lot of smarts. I'm a people-lover, but I might need a bit of personal space sometimes-just a polite little walkaway to recharge. My only real challenge is my reactivity to other dogs. We've been working on it with some awesome strategies, and we're excited to pass those on to my future family. It's not about "fixing me,-it's about creating a comfy, safe space and handling those tricky moments together.
The perfect family for me? No other pets or young kids, and a love for training would be perfect. I need mental and physical stimulation, and though we haven't had as many outdoor adventures as we'd like, we've been keeping busy with extra training and puzzles. I'm on some anti-anxiety meds to help me stay chill, and my future family will receive three training sessions to help me and my new family start off on the right paw!
I'm a champ with clicker training and basic commands, and while my dog-reactivity means fewer walks, I still get plenty of mental stimulation through training and puzzles. I'm rock-solid with my potty habits, never causing any mess or trouble, and my kennel is my nighttime haven.
If you're looking for a super smart, super sweet, and wonderfully quirky companion, I'm your girl! Let's make some magic together!

More about this rescue
The Bond Between is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that focuses on the bond between humans and animals. We were founded in 2009 as Secondhand Hounds. Since then, we have rescued over 29,000 dogs and cats with the help of thousands of fosters, volunteers, and supporters in our community. Our organization has grown from a rescue to a first-in-its-class animal wellbeing organization... now The Bond Between! We continue to provide safe shelter, proper veterinary care, and daily necessities for animals while working hard to help them build a bond with humans. We also focus on supporting the bonds that already exist between people and pets with our pet food shelf, respite foster care program, and focus on social services.
We wake up every morning saying YES to connecting people and animals, caring for them, and helping them fill each other’s hearts.
You can help support us today by donating, fostering, volunteering, or sharing The Bond Between.
