My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Sheba!

Sheba is a stunning example of a young female German Shepherd from working line stock. She is 18 months old, spayed, and up to date on shots. She is ready for her perfect home!

Sheba is sturdy, proud, and a little bit goofy. She wants nothing more than to be a loyal and devoted partner for her people.

Sheba is sweet and attentive. She gives little nose nudges as you walk to let you know she’s still there. She always checks in to see how you are, takes play very seriously, and will fetch until she falls over! Sheba loves to be active and can play fetch for hours if you’ll only toss the ball, frisbee, or stick. For this reason, a fenced-in yard is a must for this girl - the bigger the better.

Sheba does well off-leash and in the house. She is fostered in a crate-free home surrounded by people and pups of all different shapes and sizes. Sheba is great with other dogs and would be happiest if homed with another friendly dog.

Even though Sheba gets along well with other pups and people, establishing clear expectations at the start is important. She is a working dog and needs an experienced handler to work with her. Sheba is intelligent and ready for a job. She can be a pet and a protector but will need an experienced owner who will not let Sheba take the lead. Without proper guidance, Sheba may become territorial.

This sweet girl is just beginning to learn, understand, and yearn for the wonderful memories that come from a bond between a pup and her people.

Sheba completed a 4-week board and train program and will be adopted out with her trainer providing introduction and guidance.

If you are at all like Sheba and find your best life to be hiking the woods, going for a walk, or playing fetch in the park before lying down with a full belly in front of a fire, or on the couch in front of the tv, Sheba is the girl for you!

***Sheba is a working shepherd, not a sweet cuddly shepherd. German Shepherd/working dog experience and an understanding of her needs are a must.

Sheba is fostered in Kent Island, MD.

If you are interested in adopting Sheba, please fill out an application at www.puppypawsrescue.org. If you are not ready to adopt but would like to learn about fostering, please send us a message to get started. We are always looking for fosters!

PLEASE NOTE:
We review veterinary care for applicants. This includes regular well visits, core vaccinations, spay/neuter, heartworm, tickborne tests, regular monthly heartworm prevention, and flea/tick prevention. You MUST contact your veterinarian’s office to permit them to speak to us BEFORE we call them to verify the care you have provided for your pets.

Applications are available at www.puppypawsrescue.org If your application meets our adoption criteria, we will contact you within 1 week. At that time, you will be contacted (usually by email) to schedule a phone interview and a virtual home visit (Facetime, Skype, etc). PLEASE CHECK your SPAM folder for emails from Puppy Paws Rescue.

Due to the volume of applications, applications that do not move forward to an interview may not receive a reply within that time frame. Our rescue is an all-volunteer team managing families, our paying jobs, households, foster dogs, application processing, interviews, home visits, follow-up, transports, and much more. We ask that you be courteous and patient with us.

If you’re seeing this listing the dog/puppy is still available. Please do not send an inquiry asking if the dog/puppy is available.

All of our dogs/puppies are kept in private foster homes. For this reason, we do not schedule meets until after an application has been processed and approved. If you’re interested in meeting the animal, you must first submit an application on our website- www.puppypawsrescue.org.
