Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meyer is a 10 lb. dapple dachshund who is eight years old. His mom could no longer care for him or his brother, so a family member took them in. They were headed to the shelter soon sadly, so we intervened and brought them to PLP. :) Unfortunately, neither of them had been to a vet in many years. Both dogs were cryptorchid which means one testical had not dropped which made the surgeries quite expensive and more intrusive. Meyer had terrible breath and needed a dental with seven extractions. He also had a cyst about the size of a golf ball and the vet had to make sure he got all the margins which left a four-inch incision on Meyer's little body. :( He received all testing, fecal, snap, and vaccinations, a microchip and a 6-month heartworm prevention shot. Now he is healthy and healed up from the three surgeries in one day! The vet did say the cyst on his body could come back and he wasn't sure what it was, but it didn't look good. It will need to be monitored as it could come back. if so, it will need to be removed surgically again and sent off to pathology. Meyer is a very laid-back pup, with a good disposition. He barks very little, does well on a leash, and loves car rides. Although he is crate trained, he would much rather snuggle with you. He is house trained, sleeps through the night and is able to stay alone with very little anxiety. Like most Dachshunds, he likes to burrow under blankets. Watch out- he is a little fella. :) He doesn’t seem to be scared by much, even the vacuum doesn’t bother him. He enjoys a few walks a day but needs to save plenty of time for napping. He gets along with other dogs but hasn’t been tested with cats or children. Although he is shy at first, he warms up quickly and loves to play with toys and tug of war with you. Meyer has been through a lot and is such a good little dog. He would love to find a quiet, home in our area. He is the sweetest little fella. No young children or large exuberant dogs. He is a small boy and could easily get hurt. Approved application, home visit, pet restrictions and meet required to adopt. Myrtle Beach SC We will be only choosing the best home for Meyer, no matter how long that takes. He is an angel and deserves the best. :) Adoption donation of $350.00 which is tax deductible.
