My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Lia our strikingly beautiful, approximately 3 yr. old, spayed pittie blend. She has a stunning light brindle coat reminiscent of a caramel sundae and her bright golden eyes, reflect a gentle soul and a curious mind. Lia’s ear to ear infectious grin, her tall, and pointed antennae ears add to her uniqueness. Be prepared for strangers to comment on her incredible features often. She is a stunner with a fan club!

Lia is fully vaccinated, microchipped and was a great canine citizen in playgroups at the San José shelter. While in her past life at the shelter she enjoyed supervised romps with other dogs, these days she prefers 1:1 time with humans -what can we say, she is all about the humans. When approached by stranger’s up close and personal, she melts into a 60lb, wiggle worm who may try to slip you a little tongue action but behind a door she’ll sound like a posse of guardian dogs ready to defend their flock. All bark, no action – can be bought with treats or pets.

Lia epitomizes the essence of “cannot be bothered” by passing dogs while on leash. She is an expert hiker, or an ideal companion for a leisurely stroll. She firmly supports the “suns out – buns out” lifestyle.

PACC seeks an active household that appreciates large, strong, and active dogs, particularly those who enjoy cuddling with the whole family on the couch for Netflix and chill time.

Kids in the home should be 10+ because little humans take a lot of time, dogs take time, and most families don't have time for both. Cats are not recommended. If you’re looking for a girl who combines beauty and brain’s, then fill out our application and meet this stunner.

Additional adoption info

We use a transparent adoption process, as follows:

-Completion of Adoption Application (*required)
-Phone call to answer any questions you may have
-Meet up (opportunity for you to meet the animal in their current setting)
-Short stay over (2-3 hour visit at your place to assess the right fit - PACC will bring the animal to you and will help with pet intros, as applicable)
-Adoption!

An exceptionally high number of potential adopters encounter situations that cause delays or lead them to change their minds about the animal, thus PACC is unable to put other adopters on hold to accommodate individual circumstances. We continue to invite ALL adopters through the adoption process, until the dog or cat is successfully homed. (In other words, even though you may have met the animal, PACC does not have the luxury of working exclusively with you, for the reasons outlined above). We will efficiently guide ALL potential adopters through our process and the family that completes the process first and is a good fit for the dog or cat will be given first consideration. Our main interest is being respectful of everyone’s time while transitioning our animals to loving permanent homes as quickly as possible.

More about this rescue

We are a group of former Peninsula Humane Society (PHS) volunteers and animal rescue advocates who have over 40 years combined experience in animal welfare.

Having worked extensively with the animals coming into San Mateo County's Coyote Point shelter, we have witnessed first hand the shortcomings of an outdated animal warehousing model.

PACC Board Members successfully encouraged the county to open the San Mateo County Animal Care & Control Contract for bid in preparation for the current contract ending in 2021 - something that has not been done for 69 years!
