Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Koda!
Koda originally came to us in January 2023 after she was found as a stray and she was not getting along with the finder's dogs. In the ten months that Koda has been with us, we have seen both the good and bad with her. While we are happy to adopt her out to the right home we would still be open to a rescue taking her into their care so she can continue to work on her behaviors. Koda is very picky about the people she befriends and lets into her space and is available to be visited by those with approved applications only. The kennel environment is stressful for many dogs and unfortunately amplified some of the negatives in Koda's behaviors. While in the kennel or when she is insecure in her environment Koda will guard items that she considers of high-value. In the shelter we have seen that in the form of her toys and her food/water bowls. She does not display these behaviors with staff she has bonded herself to or, generally, when she is away from the other dogs and not in the kennel. Due to these behaviors, any potential adopters will need to have previous experience owning dogs and may be required to visit with Koda more than once before taking her home! Koda cannot go to a home with other dogs, cats or kids. When Koda is comfortable with you, she is a gem of a pup! She LOVES to give kisses and will hop up for hugs and an ear scratch. This two-year-old pup is a huge fan of treats and is always ready for a snack! Koda knows 'sit' and 'leave it' currently. She is an extremely toy and food motivated pup and would love to learn more in her forever home! Her previous adopters did state that she was house-broken and generally a very well-behaved dog outside of her not getting along with their dog. Koda has done fantastic riding in the car for staff and also walks nicely on leash. Stuffed toys or anything that squeaks are her preferred toys to play with while in the yard or hanging out with staff. Koda also enjoys playing in water and would love to go to a home that will give her plenty of outdoor adventures!
Staff knows that with the right home and people, Koda will make a fantastic dog!
Koda is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped.
