Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi! My name is Stormy, and I am IN SOUTH KOREA waiting to be matched to a home in Los Angeles! I was rescued from the dog meat trade in South Korea by the DoVE Project. My fate would have been to live in fear and distress, watching dogs being led to slaughter for human consumption. DoVE Project heard about me, and now I am looking for my forever family!

Physical characteristics
Storm has been suffering from atopic dermatitis. When she arrived at the RUN center, her condition was quite dire. Storm had only a few patches of fur and her skin was often bleeding from her scratching herself.
She has been fed medicine daily and combining that with premium kibble, her skin condition has improved significantly. She no longer bleeds and her fur has mostly grown back. She is currently off her meds. She may experience flare-ups that require her to go back on them, so the adopter should adjust dosage according to her condition.
Small scratch on her snout.
BEHAVIOR:
Used to growl/bark when she had food or if the neighboring dog was eating, but doesn’t do it anymore unless other dogs try to steal her food. Storm suffered from atopic dermatitis. At times she was in a lot of pain, however despite that, she has a very positive and cheerful personality. Storm adores people and she loves it when her caretakers give her attention. On her walks, she likes to rub her body against her caretakers and lick their faces. She used to flinch if a person tried to pet her, but since her skin condition greatly improved, she now enjoys receiving pets. Storm is still a bit wary of strangers but warms up quickly (after a couple of days).
Storm plays well with all dogs, she is very sociable. Sometimes she will want to be a little naughty and playfully pick on more submissive dogs, but it never leads to a fight.
Besides slight food aggression (which has greatly improved), Storm has not shown any behavioral issues.
Storm is currently being fed premium kibble that includes healthy benefits for her skin.
SIBLINGS/FAMILY: UNK
BACKGROUND:
Storm is a survivor of the Uljin wildfire. She was rescued from a dog meat farm that was abandoned when the fire broke out. Some dogs on the farm were burned alive and did not survive. All of the dogs (200+) were rescued by CARE.
ABOUT JINDOS
Jindos are known for their fierce loyalty, high intelligence, rarely barking, and playful nature. They make great indoor family dogs, as Jindos are clean and easily housetrained, and are faithful to family members. They are also mid-level active and love being socialized at dog parks, going on hikes, and joining the family on trips.
ABOUT SHELTER STRESS
Dogs who have lived in shelters for a long period of time develop behaviors due to an environment that is loud, chaotic, and stressful, even in best shelters in the US. Dogs in shelters have limited socialization exposure to people and urban environments. DoVE dogs also come from a traumatic background such as dog meat farms and slaughterhouses. While many of our dogs acclimate within a few months with consistency, structure, and patience, some of our more sensitive dogs can take longer to rehabilitate. It's important to note that these sensitive dogs are even more attuned to human emotions and behavior, making for a deeper connection human-dog connection. DoVE Project is committed to helping our adopters desensitize and socialize our dog meat trade survivors.
*********************************
DoVE Project operates a shelter in South Korea, where our dogs stay until they are matched with an adopter. In the US, our dogs stay in foster homes or in boarding, as we do not have a physical facility. These dogs are identified with "in LA" in their names.
Please note that we only adopt our pups in the Southern California area. Please check our website for more information regarding our adoption process, our mission, and adoption application: https://www.dove-project.org/adoption-process
