My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

THIS POST WILL BE REMOVED WHEN THE DOG IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. INQUIRIES ABOUT THE ADOPTION STATUS WILL NOT BE RETURNED.

Matilda the Norwich Terrier found her way to Wag N Train after her owner could no longer care for her. At only three years old, she has led a very sheltered past life so some things are new and scary to her, but she is learning to trust her people, ask for pets, and snuggle on the couch.

Matilda is a bit reserved and shy, but we are hoping with time and love she will blossom into the terrier within. For now, she prefers to eat in or near her kennel and spends quite a bit of time observing the room from her safe space. She wants to be a part of the action and has become more and more curious about what her foster family is up to. She will quietly ask for pets and gently takes treats from her foster mom’s hand. She likes spending time with the other dogs and loves laying in the sun. She is picking up on potty training and does well when kept to a schedule. She does tinkle when she’s scared, but with time she will feel confident and comfortable in her role as the family dog.

Matilda is up to date on her vaccinations and has been spayed. She is kennel trained and happily snoozes the day away when her foster family is not home. Walking on a leash is new, but that will come with time. Matilda’s ideal adoptive family would be experienced dog owners who are ready to provide calm, steady leadership coupled with positive reinforcement for bravery and general ‘good girl’ deeds. She is good with other dogs but has not been tested with cats. Any children should be older or dog-savvy due to her current needs.

Due to her breed, she will require a securely fenced yard as well.

The suggested adoption donation for Matilda is a minimum of $700 and goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our rescue dogs.

Wag N Train Terrier Rescue adopts to an extended geographical area as long as we can locate a local volunteer to perform the required home visit. Approved adopters are required to travel to Omaha, NE to pick up their newly adopted dog. We do not arrange transport, or fly our rescue dogs without a "pet nanny". All of our dogs that come from a commercial breeding facility require a securely fenced yard AND a resident companion dog, unless the dog's bio states otherwise. Please note, invisible or underground fencing is not considered secure or appropriate containment. Adoption applications can be found at www.wagntrainterrierrescue.com/adoption-information
