Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Looks like: Large Mixed Breed
Female, 6 years old, 63 pounds
Beach Lovers unite! If you are as much of a self-proclaimed beach bum as Flora is, then you should definitely meet each other! For this stunning girl with her mile-long legs, there is no other place she would rather be. Flora arrived at POMDR as a very special delivery, when we took in her pregnant mother Nellie in 2018 and she gave birth to a litter of adorable puppies with Flora among them. She got adopted as soon as she was old enough and moved to the quiet countryside.
Since then, she has been deeply devoted and attentive to a small circle of people she knows and trusts. When meeting new people, she can be quite shy and requires patience and sensitivity while she slowly warms up. She likes a routine, spending the day with familiar peeps in familiar places, but she needs time to adjust to anything unfamiliar. Flora is very smart and always eager to learn, well-behaved when home alone, and an excellent co-pilot on car rides. This mellow pup gets along well with other easy-going dogs, but she is not a fan of sharing her home with other pups or with cats so she is looking to be a solo dog in her next home. She would like you to know that snuggling is not really her thing.
Flora would love to find a quiet and predictable home with a really big yard, no young children, and with no other animals. Although she is usually calm, she does get spooked sometimes when on the leash and may pull quite hard. This independent lady is very strong and can be stubborn, so she is looking for her very special human who is equally strong to handle her, patient and intuitive with helping her overcome her insecurities, willing to keep her smart brain engaged with training, and most of all, someone who enjoys her amazing presence. POMDR will provide tools, guidance, and a consultation with a private trainer to get Flora off to a good start in her new home.
After several beautiful years together, Flora returned to POMDR because her adopter's health declined and she was no longer able to provide Flora with the exercise and continued training she requires.
