Siggy is a pretty little poppet, sweet as the day is long and lovely in personality and in his interactions with other doggos.
He's a piebald dapple, purebred, and not even three years old. He finds his way to DREAM when his owner could no longer care for him. We're having him all well-vetted up, and getting to know him.
One thing we found out quickly is that the Sigster has not yet mastered the potting outside routine. He's on a routine at his foster mama's house, and in good time, we feel this will get better as he learns that watering the grass and trees is a fun thing to do, especially with positive reinforcement and nom noms.
He's a friendly little sprite and gets along well with the other dogs at his temporary digs. We don't know how he'd do with cats.
We'll post more as we get to know him better, but he's just an all around sweet fella, young and happy, and ready for his forever after.
If you are interested in adopting Siggy, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our
online adoption application. Siggy's adoption fee is $650.
All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Siggy will go to his new home microchipped, altered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and with all other medical needs addressed.
Almost every dog's veterinary expense is greater than our adoption fees; we are non-profit.
**Siggy is a Legacy Dog. Legacy Dogs are highly adaptable dogs that can assist other dogs in our rescue with their vetting bills.
Legacy dogs have a much higher desirability quotient. They're young, healthy and usually purebreds. These dogs leave a financial legacy for those animals who need extra help - whether they need extensive medical care or just a little more time to find a loving home.
(And they still cost less than going to a breeder!)
DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia.
Since our rescue is entirely run and staffed by volunteers, our ability to travel long distances for adoptions is somewhat limited. We focus on Georgia, but if you are in a neighboring state, we might be able to work something out - we'll expect you to do your part.
DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
