Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Rocket, our 10 year old 8 pound chihuahua mix, would not like to live up to his name. Rockets are way too fast. Not that Rocket is slow; he's a very spry little guy. But he's got more in common with glue than Rockets. This tiny charmer is now ready to find his own person to stick to.
Found stray and covered in fleas, we took in Rocket from a local shelter. The fleas caused hair loss and Rocket had a few lumps that needed to be removed. Rocket also needed his infected teeth addressed. Since we've had him, Rocket's skin has cleared up and his hair is coming back. We also removed his lumps and the last of his teeth. Although now toothless, Rocket eats just fine and is healed from his surgeries.
Rocket's foster family says he's confident, funny and sweet. He's good with all people, including kids, and is very friendly. Rocket loves his people so much, though, that he tends to be a velcro dog. This means he really wants to be where his person is, and not in a crate. Good thing Rocket is potty trained and not destructive.
Rocket is good with other dogs, but he grumbles at them if they come too close to the lap he's sitting on. And if Rocket is sitting, he's sitting on a lap. For this reason, Rocket may want to be the only dog or should live with a dog that would tolerate his person guarding. When Rocket isn't stuck to his favorite person, he is playful and active.
Rocket is heartworm negative, current on his flea and heartworm preventatives and is microchipped. He's had normal senior bloodwork as well.
Rocket may have more in common with Elmer's than Ferrari, but we expect you'll fall in love with him faster than a greased pig. Which is to say, pretty fast. Apply to adopt at www.stumptownstrays.org
