Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Mimi, our 30 pound 1 year old dog, looks like a mix between a Basenji and a Carolina dog. Which is to say she looks like a little dingo. We're pretty sure she has a bit of an Australian accent as well. But, like all of our Stumpies, Mimi doesn't care what breed you call her. She just wants someone to call her their forever dog.
Mimi was found stray locally and we reached out to help the crowded shelter by putting her into a foster home. We were all surprised to see her limping and even more surprised to discover Mimi had a broken pelvis! This little dingo had been through a lot before she came to us. The good news is that she's now nearly healed from this fracture and is ready to show off her athleticism in her new home.
Her foster family describes Mimi as a playful, sweet, high energy dog. She loves toys, other dogs and snuggling. Mimi can be initially wary of strangers, but it doesn't take long for her to warm up and then melt into any available lap. Mimi has been good with older children, and a home with kids older than 10 would be fine. She has quite the prey drive, so needs to be kept on a leash (she'll chase that squirrel right into the road if you aren't careful), but has done well at a fenced dog park. Mimi loves to RUN (who cares about a broken pelvis anyway) and would be a perfect dog for an active person. No cats for Mimi; she can't help but chase them.
Mimi is good in her crate and pretty polite in the house. She is nearly potty trained (occasional accidents, but she's getting better) Mimi also is very smart and loves learning. She would thrive with someone who wanted to continue her training.
Mimi is microchipped, heartworm negative and current on her flea and heartworm preventatives.
We're sure glad we took Mimi from the shelter and got her the rest she needed to heal from her fracture. We're very excited to see what lucky person gets to adopt her! Think it's you? Apply to adopt at www.stumptownstrays.org
