Zora is a spunky young female boxer. She came into rescue from a local shelter, and before that she lived her entire life in a fenced yard with her littermate. Zora is very playful and exuberant, and loves all kinds of toys. But the thing she loves most is being petted and snuggling with her dog brothers and foster humans. She is completely housetrained, rides perfectly in the car, and walks well on leash with no pulling (see below for exceptions). Zora is working on her house manners and crate training but is extremely bright and learns quickly. Because she wasn't exposed to other dogs and new people, she is reactive to both. However, she can be redirected using treats and responds well to praise. Zora would do best with a well-adjusted/socialized male dog. She loves rough housing with the foster family's 80lb American Bully mix, and is fine with their older male Pug (Zora is somewhat more interested in playing with him than he is in playing with her [🙂] ). The foster family doesn't have any cats or smaller pets, but Zora has shown some prey drive when on hikes. This indicated that she may not be ok with smaller pets, birds, or cats. Dog-savvy, respectful children should not be an issue. Boxer experience (specifically female/puppy) highly recommended. Well-adjusted/socialized male dog of similar size required. Zora will require obedience/behavior training to address her reactivity as specified in the adoption contract. If you are interested in meeting or adopting Zora, please fill out an adoption application! We require professional obedience training from a certified trainer for ALL adoptions. If you are interested in meet or adoption me, please fill out an adoption application at www.boxersandbuddies.com

Boxers and Buddies Boxer Rescue is a nonprofit organization founded in 2005. Our parent organization (the well-known Boxer Rescue Los Angeles (Boxer Rescue Fund Inc.), was founded in 1977 out of love and fierce determination by Ursula Sauthier.
Today, Boxers and Buddies provides a safe, humane sanctuary for abandoned Boxers and others who are waiting to be adopted.
Boxers and Buddies is funded solely by private donation. Our entire organization is run by a dedicated team of volunteers. Our group works for the love of the breed and to see dogs find homes.
Our available dogs come from local shelters, from the streets or from owners who turn them in. We are always filled to capacity with scared, confused and very stressed out dogs. They are with us because Boxers and Buddies is their last hope of finding a new life. We are their temporary haven until they are adopted into a loving permanent home.
Before they can be adopted, each dog is evaluated for temperament, must be sterilized, microchipped and their shots are updated. Boxers and Buddies has a training program for those dogs who need rehabilitation or have behaviors which need to be modified.
Boxers and Buddies and Boxer Rescue LA stand apart from other rescues by rescuing any Boxer, regardless of age or health. We feel that they are all worthy of a real chance at life. This policy means that we are subject to frequent and expensive veterinarian costs. Medical expenses are only one of the major cost Boxers and Buddies has to pay each year. The cost are endless: food, shelter fees, medical bills and the costs go on and on. Saving lives is not cheap but someone has to do it!
We are constantly seeking funds and support. We need your help.
We depend on our donors and our volunteers to keep B&B open to any Boxer in need. We appreciate your compassion by including a rescue Boxer into your life. Please spread the word and continue to support our efforts.
