Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Our Hampton is a comical character full of panache and good cheer. He came to us during the height of COVID, after a short stint at NYCACC. Hampton had been found as a city stray, but no owner came forward. He wasn't in the Shelter long before he appeared on our radar and was transferred quickly to our Connecticut Rescue.
Seven years old, Hampton appears to be a Shih Tzu, but his coat has a curl to it that suggests a bit of Poodle in the ancestral line.
Hampton is a handsome boy, with striking black and white colors. His long coat can be unruly and will require occasional trips to the groomers, which he tolerates well. We have opted for the unflinching "puppy cut" to keep him cool and comfortable during summer months.
Hampton has a stocky build, and he is a tad pudgy at 25 pounds. He has a moderate energy level with bursts of play activity. He needs a few leisurely leash walks each day, but then will settle into nap time. He would be a great companion dog for just about any type of adopter.
Hampton is full of personality and generally good natured. He has been a foster superstar and could easily join a multi-dog home. Hampton is well suited to an active adult home, or would thrive with an active family with older kids. He is a happy boy, who enjoys hanging out at home with his people, or traveling. Hampton is well mannered enough to go anywhere.
Hampton has good house manners and is house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during his transition to a new home. He is in optimal health, and has been neutered. He has received routine vaccinations and a negative 4dx test. He has been dewormed, and has been on heartworm and flea/tick prevention.
