My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

(DOB 06/17/2022) If going for a peaceful walk (he walks great on a leash) and then relaxing at home is your idea of a great way to spend your day, Grayson is your guy. He’s the perfect combination of playful and chill. After a good walk and some mild play in the back yard, he’s ready to lay on the couch and be with his humans. His greatest joy is to just be near those he loves, leaning into your legs when sitting on the floor or next to you to you on the couch. Grayson is a gentle and extremely sweet boy.

He’s a very gentle dog who listens well and learns fairly quickly, especially if treats are involved. Grayson needs his forever human to spoil him! So do you want a more chill dog; well, here you go, because Grayson isn't trying to win any frisbee contests! He will; however, win first-place in snuggling every time!

He has been good with children, other dogs, and cats in his foster home. His playtime w/his 4-legged foster siblings can be a bit rough and tumble at times, so best to have him with dogs his size and strength. He is a little on the shy side with strangers, but warms up quickly. We are seeing his wonderful personality emerge. He can be a little skittish when it’s really noisy or too many people are jumping or running around, so he would probably do best in a calmer home. If children are in the home, he would likely do best with older children who are dog experienced due to his size. Grayson, even though super sweet and affectionate, we don't think he is the perfect match for a 1st time dog person. He could still use someone who is confident and help guide him through new life experiences.

Grayson wants a wonderful secure 5ft+ fenced in back yard. Grayson says, no dog parks for him; just not his jam. Grayson is house-trained and crate trained. He sleeps through the night. He has some resource guarding of food with other dogs, so is fed separately, in crate. He does not resource guard food or other things with humans.

If you’re looking for a sweet, tender-hearted dog to add to your family, Grayson checks a lot of great boxes with the potential to check them all. He has beautiful brindle markings that sparkle in the sun and his big brown eyes will melt your heart. He is ready to begin sharing his love with you!!

As part of Grayson's $300 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Grayson, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

1. Review the description of the pet you are interested in to make sure that the information we have fits with your particular needs and desires. In most cases, the information on the website is current and gives the information that we have about the particular pet. The picture of the pet does not tell the whole story.

2. Complete the adoption application at https://pawsforlifenc.org. Please make sure that you give us as much information about yourself as you can. List all animals currently living with you including other dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, and rodents. The application needs to be complete in order to help us determine if the pet you have chosen is a good match for your home.

3. Once the application is submitted we will contact you, your references, and your vet.

4. We require a home visit prior to dog adoptions.

5. If more than one person applies, we will go with the BEST fit. If all things are equal, we go in the order the applications were received.

6. Once the home visit has been completed, you will be asked to complete an adoption agreement.

7. The adoption fee is $325 for dogs under 6 months, $300 for 6 months and older. The adoption fee is $125 for kittens under 1 year ($225 for 2 kittens), $85 for cats 1 year and older. This fee helps us to provide the necessary medical care and other needs for the pets while in foster care.

8. All Paws For Life NC pets are spayed or neutered if old enough, current on shots, micro chipped, and to our knowledge, in good health before they are adopted out. Puppies under 6 months of age will require a $100 refundable spay/neuter deposit in addition to the adoption fee and a special puppy spay/neuter agreement. Kittens under 6 months will require a $50 refundable spay/neuter deposit in addition to the adoption fee. We are all volunteers and receive no monetary compensation for our work with the pets. The adoption fee is used to help defray costs in the rescue and care of the pets.

9. Congratulations! You are on your way to having your new companion. We hope that you and your new companion share a life of love and happiness. We welcome any comments you may wish to give us about your pet at any time.
