My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sourdough is a big, beautiful cat with a calm personality. She loves to chirp, purr, meow and rub against you to say hello!

You will first notice Sourdough’s beautiful eyes, and then her little legs and adorable waddle when she walks up to greet you. She may not be the most agile of kitties, so a helping hand to boost her up to higher places is appreciated. Every morning after breakfast, Sourdough curls up in one of her favorite spots, where she will keep an eye on her surroundings and take naps. Though she is on a weight loss journey and shouldn’t get too many treats, she does take them quite politely from an open hand.

In a new environment, Sourdough can be nervous and slow to warm up—but once she feels at home, she likes to be pet, brushed and have her chin scratched. She'll even knead some biscuits for you and show you her belly to let you know how comfortable and safe she feels with you. With some patience, you’ll have an adorable and affectionate girl by your side!

  • Sourdough would do best in a home with kids 10 and up.
  • Sourdough needs a home with no other cats.
  • Sourdough is looking for an adopter who knows she may need time to adjust to a new home.
  • Yummy treats help Sourdough come out of her shell!
  • An Admissions and Placement Specialist can help you set Sourdough up for success in your home!

More about this shelter

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) was the first humane society to be established in North America and is, today, one of the largest in the world. Our organization was founded by Henry Bergh in 1866 on the belief that animals are entitled to kind and respectful treatment at the hands of humans, and must be protected under the law. Headquartered in New York City, the ASPCA maintains a strong local presence, and with programs that extend our anti-cruelty mission across the country, we are recognized as a national animal welfare organization. We are a privately funded 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation, and proud to boast more than 1 million supporters across the country.
