Here's what the humans have to say about me:
River has quite a story. His transformation was just incredible and his story is a miracle. A dear friend of the rescue was planning a kayak trip down the river on a lazy hot Saturday afternoon. When she arrived at the river bank she spotted this dog who was literally a walking skeleton and has lots of very serious wounds all over his body. There were at least 30 people at the river bank and they had all just ignored him. He smelled like death and had she not scooped him up and brought him to the rescue, I'm quite sure he wouldn't have survived more than a couple of days. We do have lots of pictures and videos from that day but we will not post them here. We were afraid that he had been shot as he had several holes in his neck so we rushed him the the vet ER. They x-rayed him and saw no evidence of bullets in him but suspected that the wounds were through and through bullet wounds. We brought him home and carefully fed him lots of small meals throughout the day and night until he was strong enough to handle 3 good sized meals a day. Miraculously, he was heart worm negative and just had a few intestinal worms that we immediately got rid of. He is now very healthy, happy and ready for his forever home. We figured he was still a puppy when we got him and the vet confirmed it. He's about 13 months now and ready for transport! Fully vaccinated, microchipped, and crate trained. VERY puppyish and definitely needs some formal training!
