Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Steffi is a sweet and loving 9-month-old pup rescued from Mexico.
At just two days old with eyes still closed, Steffi was found in a garbage bag along with her 5 siblings. It was a tourist who rescued them and brought them to the shelter where they received medical care. These pups were bottle fed and grew up in loving care of the shelter staff. Steffi is not only lucky to be alive today but also very lucky to have found a chance to fly to the U.S. to find a loving forever home.
Steffi never received love from her own mother, which could explain her timid personality. Initially, she is a very shy and scared dog in new environment. It takes her time to warm up to new people and needs slow introduction, but once she becomes familiar with people and places, she is loving and playful. Treats and a gentle nature are a straight way to his heart.
Steffi is both house-trained and crate trained. She behaves in the crate while her fosters are at work or sleeping overnight. She is a smart dog and learning basic commands quickly.
Steffi walks well on a leash in quiet areas, but she is scared of traffic, the sound of car horns, and crowded areas. So, she needs to be adopted in a suburban setting with minimal street traffic.
Although she loves her food and treats, you'll see her slowly eating her food with a wagging tail, and she is very gentle when taking treats from your hand.
Steffi is ok with older children who are who are clam and gentle with her.
She gets along with other friendly dogs and likes to play with them. She would do best in a home with another confident friendly dog who can helps her build her confidence. She is ok with cats and won’t chase them.
Steffi will need a patient and loving home to care for her. Her ideal home needs to be a quiet space with adults and children 12+. A home or apartment in a quiet neighborhood would be suitable. She would love another dog playmate and an owner who enjoys going for long walks and cuddle sessions.
Steffi is now ready for her loving home and being fostered in Milltown, NJ.
