Would you consider picking Banjo?
Banjo is a 60-pound sweetheart who is gentle and loyal. He's the perfect companion dog for someone who wants both snuggles and security from their pet. Not only does Banjo alert his foster with a big bark when guests arrive, but he snuggles and keeps her feet warm at night.
Banjo is quite the gentleman. He takes treats gently and can even catch them mid-air! Unlike many larger dogs, his foster says Banjo doesn't make a mess or drop water everywhere when he gets a drink.
He is a great listener and should be highly trainable; he appears to be a lab mix who is friendly and lovable. He is equally great with men and women, but it's unknown how he is with small children or cats. He is uninterested in the bunny who lives in his foster home.
Banjo is crazy about his toys and games, especially playing tug-of-war. If you give up too easily, he returns the rope to your feet to wait for the next round of fun! And if you aren't available for snuggle time, Banjo will focus his affection on one of his stuffy toys instead. He is more interested in hanging out with people than playing with puppies he has met.
Wanna take Banjo on adventures? He is well-behaved in the car and loves to sightsee.
Although his exact age is unknown, the vet estimates that Banjo is 4-6 years old. He came from an animal control in Missouri where he was scheduled to be euthanized until a foster stepped forward to save him.
He is heartworm-negative, neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. Banjo's adoption fee is $100 due to a generous sponsor. Think Banjo might be your new best friend? Fill out an application at istodaymydayrescue.org to get more information.

Additional adoption info
We want to make this easy and we want to be sure that the dog you are interested in is a fit for you. Finding a dog or pup that works with your schedule and lifestyle is key to our placement. The questions on the application help us know if the dog you choose will do well in your home. Number of hours your dog is home alone, fenced yard, exercise plan, other family members – pets included; those are important things we want to discuss with you and your chosen canine. We do require a vet reference.
The application is on our website: Istodaymydayrescue.org. Complete and send. You can expect a reply within 24-48 hours. As all of our dogs are in foster care, we will then contact the foster home and arrange a meeting. The foster home might want to do a home visit or you might meet at a convenient location. If it is a good fit, some adoptions can be completed at that time of the meeting.
All of our dogs are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. All of our dogs are micro chipped, wormed, heartworm tested if over 6 months, on heartworm preventative, treated for fleas, and have age appropriate vaccines. Pups under 16 weeks require ongoing vaccines every 2 to 3 weeks.

More about this rescue
“Is today my day?” That is what every shelter dog asks. “Is today the day that I find a home, get a family, discover that I am a best friend”? We want to tell those dogs: “Yes, it is!”
We are a foster based rescue who aims to serve south central Missouri, an area with a low human population and a high canine population. Our mission is to help dogs from this area find homes in the St. Louis area through adoptions and transfers. After covering spay/neuter costs, 20% of each adoption fee goes to our emergency medical fund so we can help canine accident victims, pay for emergency C-sections, and other health needs. The remainder of the adoption fee goes to the dogs.
We are foster based and do not have a facility. Moms and pups are our focus, but we will help any dog we can. We are only able to accept a dog when a foster home is available. All dogs and pups are current on vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm tested, wormed, and treated for fleas and ticks. All dogs over 12 weeks have been altered; if too young for this procedure, a spay/neuter reimbursement is provided when the procedure is done.
