Meet Penelope! Penelope is a sweet and spunky approximately two-year-old Chihuahua/Dachshund mix. She is mostly black all over except for a very unique white stripe down on her back that makes her look like skunk, hence her full name, Penelope Le Pew!

Penelope has a bit of stranger danger but within seconds (and a few treats) she will warm up to you and hop right in your lap. Once you’re trusted you’re in, and all she wants is to cuddle and have her belly rubbed! She is potty trained, crate trained, wears a harness on walks, rides great in the car, and knows a few basic commands. She is good with other dogs big and small after a proper introduction, cats have not been tested. She loves playtime with any possible dog toy, and the occasional stolen sock.

Penelope would do well in a home with another playful dog, big or small, or with an owner that can devote time to her. I’d describe her as a medium energy dog with a lot of love to give. She will spend the majority of the day cuddled by your side with a spontaneous invite to play for a few minutes and then she’s right back to snuggling. We require an application, application approval, meet and greet, home check, adoption fee and a contract.

2 months -12 months: $425
1 year - 6 years $375
7 years+ - $325

Adoption fee includes :

Shots up to date of adoption, wellness exam, fecal test,
Spay/neuter, Micro-chip and any other medical needed.

We also require to stay first on the micro-chip info for life and have a life time return policy on all our rescue dogs adopted out.

Unfortunately, we do not adopt out of state under any circumstances. We recommend that you visit your local shelter or dog rescues in your area if you are looking to adopt.

I.C.A.R.E. is an all breed, no kill dog rescue. We rescue dogs at risk of being euthanized from shelters, abandoned, abused, and stray dogs. We also rescue many owner surrendered dogs; which are dogs that can no longer remain in their current homes due to financial or personal issues. I.C.A.R.E. Dog Rescue is dedicated to reducing the number of dogs that are euthanized in our shelters each and everyday. We focus on rescuing and rehabilitating them in loving foster homes until they are adopted into their permanent homes. We also focus on educating the public regarding specific breeds, rescue, and general information regarding the canine species. We are a 100% volunteer run and supported organization that cannot survive without the help of loving fosters, volunteers, and benefactors.
