Here's what the humans have to say about me:
TOBY - Just turned 3 in August. He is UTD/Neutered/stomach stapled.
Toby needs a new home. His current home is dealing with allergies and back surgery and cannot give Toby the life he deserves. He is free to the most loving home. Tody would be good with a female dog.
***Toby was purchased as a puppy by a family who only had Goldens and never had a saint before. When we started getting older over the summer, he started attack the male Golden retriever and bossing around his female saint bernard sister. Family took him to the local shelter who has found a temp. foster home for him because he was SO depressed and not eating in the kennels at the shelter. He is free to a loving, experienced qualified home. Toby was living the past 11 months with a family but the wife has had major medical issues and feels that Toby needs a home with the health, love and time for him. We did live with a female saint and no issues.
HERE IS HIS SHELTER POST - Toby was surrendered to Spotsylvania Animal Shelter after two recent altercations with the family’s Golden Retriever who lived in the home prior to Toby’s adoption. There were no problems within the first two years that their retriever and Toby lived together. Surrendering Toby was a very heartbreaking decision for his family who cherished and took wonderful care of him.
After being surrendered, Toby spent time in a foster home. His foster mom, along with his original family, know that once Toby is relaxed in a familiar environment, he is a pretty happy-go-lucky Saint Bernard. He did not have a ton of socialization outside his home growing up, so he will still be unsure and stand-offish when visitors come over. While he has lived with children and adored them, it may be best, due to his wariness of strangers, to have him in an adult-only home until he has been socialized. He is good on a leash.
