Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Xander is still a little skiddish. He will tolerate being petted on his own terms. Not Food driven, Dog friendly, Seems to have been through some trauma and causing nervousness. Loves being wherever Delilah or Rascal are. Very bonded to siblings. He wants to snuggle you but doesn't want you to know he loves it. He likes to lay on top of the couch and rest during the day, We will list his history below and siblings information.
We believe Xander has characteristics of chimerism which occurs when two embryos fuse early in development, resulting in an individual animal with two distinct sets of genetic material. This can happen in two ways: either the embryos fuse completely, resulting in a single individual with a mixture of cells from both embryos, or the embryos fuse partially, resulting in an individual with two distinct cell populations. In the latter case, the individual may have a patchwork appearance, with some areas of their body showing one set of genetic material and other areas showing the other set.
In dogs and cats, chimerism can lead to some head-turning physical appearances. For example, cats may have one side of their face that’s black with a blue eye, while the other side is orange tabby with a hazel eye.
A total of three furbabies we were able to assist with from Yoakum, Texas. The owner had sadly passed last month leaving them homeless. We were contacted by a relative and because one of our approved foster families stepped up to assist we were able to help. Names are in picture description of each one. They are very bonded and will take a few weeks to complete the boys vetting and work with them to gain trust and confidence that they are safe. We will be taking applications or questions in the meantime and offering Foster-to-Adopt as well.
