My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gatsby is a friendly chonk that regularly charms his fellow felines and human visitors. He is a conversationalist with a croaky meow that is both distinctive and delightful. If you're looking for a calm companion always ready for a snuggle, look no further than this burly gentleman.

Gatsby has feline leukemia virus (FeLV) and will only be placed in a home with no other cats or with other FeLV+ felines. FeLV can't be transmitted to humans, dogs or other household members. FeLV+ cats live normal, happy lives and, though their lifespan has the potential to be shorter, this virus can be managed in the right home. Please contact our staff to learn more about adopting Gatsby or one of his companions in our FeLV+ community.

More about this rescue

Established in 1982, We Care Animal Rescue is a no-kill sanctuary and shelter for homeless animals in the heart of Napa Valley. Our residents live and roam freely in communal spaces with safe access to the outdoors.

Our staff ensures animals receive daily socialization, enrichment activities, and veterinary care — particularly the elderly and those with special needs. We provide a forever home for all our animals, either through adoption to the public or with us in our sanctuary.
