Meet Keeno, a 7-year-old, 60lb Pitbull mix with a heart as big as his smile! Rescued from a NYC high-kill shelter after being abandoned by his previous owners who claimed they 'had no time for him anymore,' Keeno is now ready to find his true forever home.
Keeno has a lot to offer: he’s house-trained, knows basic commands like “Sit,” “Speak,” “Paw,” “Touch,” “Yes,” and even “Give Me Kiss.” He’s a couch potato at heart with medium to low energy, making him a perfect companion for someone seeking a laid-back dog. Understandably, Keeno has a mild history of separation anxiety, but has improved in his foster home and thrives with a predictable routine. Otherwise this sweet boy is fully vetted, neutered, and vaccinated.
While Keeno is exceptionally friendly to strangers outside the home, he does have protective tendencies when visitors enter his home. This excitement, mixed with overprotectiveness, can result in nipping or going after pant legs, which has caused minor scrapes. For this reason, he needs a low-traffic home without kids and with few visitors. When strangers enter the home, Keeno should be leashed or crated to ensure a calm introduction. He would do best with a homebody, retiree, or someone with a consistent schedule who understands how to provide structure and security. He’s happiest when he has his person to lean on.
Keeno loves some dogs, especially females or those smaller and younger than him. However, he can feel intimidated by dogs his size or larger, so off-leash parks or group daycare settings are not recommended. Keeno hasn’t been tested with cats but does have a tendency to chase critters, so a cat-free home would be ideal.
If you’re ready to give Keeno the forever home he’s been waiting for, please apply on our website or email us at happygoluckymastiffrescue@yahoo.com for an application. This is an opportunity to become a part of his happily ever after, and in return, Keeno will provide you with loving and fiercely loyal companionship.
