Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Luna is a beautiful and sweet young girl, coming up on her second birthday! Champagne coat, soft as a bunny, doughy golden eyes. She is just under 50lbs. She was surrendered to us from her previous owner who had Luna since she was a puppy. She was not provided with any training or direction, and had become bossy and unpredictable. She would act out and guard her food, the couch, anything should could be possessive over. Since coming into the rescue, Luna has really came out of her shell and most of her previously seen issues are no longer evident! She picked up quickly on her leash training. She quickly learned "sit", "stay", "lay down" and "wait". We've been working hard to socialize her with other dogs and humans. She learned that there was more to the world than her previous owner. She learned now that she only gets what she wants by being a good girl, not by being bossy. She's quickly turned out to be a loving and sweet young girl. Luna is still questionable with her toys, and by advisement of our trainer, the simple solution is to just remove them from the equation. She is perfectly content and happy without them and we have had zero issues with her since. She is definitely dog friendly as long as the dog is friendly with her. She's likely not appropriate in a home with small children because of her prior issues. She will need a family that is confident enough to prevent Luna from reverting to her old ways. She is now eager to please, and knows that only good behavior will be rewarded. She really is a good girl. She is very photogenic obviously, but beyond that her disposition is super sweet, curious, delicate, loving, quick-to-learn, intuitive. Definitely worth meeting and getting to know this sweet girl! Everyone who has taken the time to get know her, ends up loving her! Please give this beautiful girl Luna a chance!
If you are interested in adopting you must be available and open to a home check, provide vet references (proof that you keep your other pets up to date on all shots, prevention meds and yearly wellness checks, and that other pets in home are neutered or spayed)
PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOU DO NOT MEET REQUIREMENTS!
Apply at pawsfurrecovery.org
We look forward to receiving your application and will process it within 3 days.
If you meet requirements and the dog is still available we will call you.
Thanks for your interest in this amazing rescue dog!

Thank you for considering the adoption of a rescue. Before you decide to adopt a pet, please consider the effort and funds necessary to properly maintain an animal. Responsible pet ownership requires a commitment to provide care and companionship for the life of the animal. The decision to adopt a pet is an important one. In order to ensure that you and your pet will be happy for years to come, we need to take time to discuss your animal and your individual needs and personality traits. Please take a few moments to carefully read and complete this questionnaire. Please note there are no wrong answers, but honesty is the best answer for all involved. This is to ensure that the dog you are interested in is a good fit for you and your family.
Please note: Completion of this application does not guarantee adoption. If you do not own your own home - Paws Fur Recovery will need to contact your landlord or HOA to verify that you are allowed to have pets. We will also need to perform an in-person house check to verify that your home is suitable for pets (enough space, fenced in yard, etc). We will need to meet all residents of your home, including any adults, children, pets both inside & out - to make sure your home is suitable for the dog you are seeking to adopt. This is not an exhaustive list of requirements. Every dog's situation is different and every adoption will be handled on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of a Paws Fur Recovery representative.

More about this rescue
Our mission is to rescue and rehabilitate dogs stuck in high kill shelters that are at risk of euthanasia. At the same time we strive to empower our volunteers who are all recovering addicts and alcoholics.
Paws Fur Recovery aims to promote these benefits for our dogs and volunteers:
○ Encourages positive change and a sense of purpose
○ Increases self-esteem.
○ Teaches trust again
○ Promotes responsibility and accountability
○ Decreases anxiety and depression in both the addict and the dog
○ Provides socialization for both the addict and the dog
○ Creates a symbiotic relationship of unconditional love and acceptance
Certain dogs at the shelter have stories that every recovering addict knows all too well: They have been abandoned, alone, afraid, abused, unwanted and misunderstood. They are powerless over their current circumstances and must rely on a power greater than themselves to help them.
We can relate, and we are here to help. We know firsthand about the gift of a second chance. We are passionate about rescuing these forgotten dogs. We help them recover and find their way to homes where they will finally know what it’s like to feel safe and loved.
