Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Elwood is a fun loving and happy guy!! He does have some stranger danger when first meeting people but warms up and bonds quickly. Ideally his new family has some experience with 'temperamental' small dogs and has the patience to give him the space that he needs to adjust. Odds are that Elwood WILL try to bite people in his new family until some trust is established. For this reason, Elwood is not available to a home with kids under the age of 16 years. His foster mother has also been working with him on muzzle training for any incidents where stressful handling may be necessary like vet visits.
He does very well with other small dogs in his foster home, making quick friends, but can be reactive to larger dogs. He loves to wrestle and play with one of his foster dog friends but is very respectful and gives space to the others that don't like to rumble as much. He does well with cats in the foster home as well although he will try to play with them or occasional chase them. He is crate trained and learned quickly to go to his crate for meals or treats, with just some initial mild barking for a few minutes and then quiet throughout the night. He will need some patience with marking at first in new environments but has no issues wearing a belly band either. He can startle easily, especially in new places, so a home without young children will be best for him. He would do best in a home with a yard for him to run and play in but does walk well on a leash and would adapt well as long as there is an area for him to be walked that isn't too busy or full of strangers.
Elwood would do best in a home with at least another playful dog but also would be happy as an only dog with plenty of human attention. He very much loves his humans and once bonded, seeks to please his human always and is a great listener. He would be a great addition to any home looking to add some energy and love to their lives!
Because of his anxiety in new places with new faces, interested adopters must be willing and able to do meet and greets at his foster's home in Jacksonville Florida after an approved application has been submitted and be willing to work with his foster mother to ensure that he has a smooth transition into his new family.

We are setting up adoptions with approved adopters on an appointment basis. We are no longer hosting adoption events at PetSmart until further notice. We are not arranging meet and greets; but appointments to finalize adoptions to limit exposure for all. Our adoptions come with a one week trial period in which if things are not working out, we will refund your adoption fee if you decide to return your newly adopted Faithful Friend. Our adoptions must be done in person at PetSmart (3736 SW Archer Rd, Gainesville, FL 32608) and we do not arrange transport to adopters. Our adoption fees vary and we are only able to accept payments by card at this time but include spay/neuter, heartworm test (dogs), FeLV/FIV test (cats), age appropriate vaccines and deworming, flea, tick and heartworm medication and microchip.

More about this rescue
Founded in February 2018, Faithful Friends Pet Rescue and Rehoming, Inc is an organization dedicated to rescue and rehoming of dogs and cats in need. While we are always happy for high adoption numbers, that is never our focus. Our focus is always the animals themselves - providing the best care for each animal in our program while we search for a loving, permanent home.
We are proudly a 501(c)3 non-profit charity!
Please email us at FaithfulFriendsPRR@gmail.com if you have any questions regarding adopting.
