My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi I'm Elmo, and my journey is a mix of hope and heartache, which is sadly common for black dogs like me who often get overlooked in shelters. I was surrendered back to Big Dog Ranch Rescue by an owner who could no longer care for me, even though I was born here at BDRR. While my siblings have all found their forever homes, I'm still searching for mine. I'm an incredibly sweet and happy boy, overflowing with love and a penchant for giving big, warm hugs. Although I had one adoption that didn't work out because I played a bit too vigorously, I'm ready to find a family that can match my energy. I am not the best fit for small animals like cats or smaller and older dogs due to my chasing instinct, but I thrive with friends my size, especially sporty, energetic older kids who can keep up with my zest for life. I do need a proper introduction to other dogs, but I get along great with my roommates. If you're looking for a loyal companion to join you on daily walks, hikes, or other adventures, I'm your guy! Plus, Big Dog Ranch offers a FREE training session when you adopt me to ensure we start on the right paw. With the kids getting ready for summer break, why not add a faithful friend to keep them company? Please give me a chance. I need someone to love and love me back.

If you are interested in adopting a dog from us please visit our website adoptions page to complete an adoption application. at www.bdrr.org/adopt. This will help us make sure we find you the right dog to fit your situation and family. Once you have completed the application, we will contact you to let you know you have been approved and then you will be able to set up an appointment to come and meet dogs you are interested in. Our adoption fees range depending on the dog's breed, age and other factors.
