Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Introducing Piper! She is a new momma that has recently been separated from her sweet babies.
Now it's time for Piper to find her forever home! Our best guess is that Piper is a flat coat retriever mix. She has the prettiest, shiniest coat! She is a young girl about 1 and currently 50 pounds. Piper and her little family came to our rescue from the Big Bear shelter. We were told she was relinquished to the shelter because her owner was in the military and being deployed.
Piper did a wonderful job as a new mom. After she nursed her babies she would spend most of her time with the humans in her home. She loves to be around people. Piper has lived with other dogs in rescue and did well. Piper is currently experiencing some separation anxiety when she is not near her foster mom. She will need a patient adopter that has time to work with her and gradually build her confidence.
Piper loves to play with toys! She is learning to walk nicely on leash. Her foster mom says that she will pull at times but it is easy to get her attention. She loves to stop and smell the roses. Sometimes Piper can be a little reactive towards dogs and people she doesn't recognize. She will need consistency to help distract her with treats when she spots a trigger on walks. Piper can be a bit of a picky eater but when she likes a food item she will eat she has even counter surfed once or twice. Piper has done really well with potty training.
Piper's favorite things are laying on her human's bed and playing with toys! She absolutely loves the big toy box at her foster home. Piper tends to like to hog all of the toys for herself. She can play for several hours at a time.. Piper also enjoys playing with the other dog in the home. However she is definitely more human focused. Her foster mom says that she is a sweet girl with the goal to keep you safe from the gardener, mail carrier and friends;-)
If Piper sounds like the girl for you, please complete an adoption application. Questions can be emailed to danelle@roversretreat.org
