My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Due to failing health, Luigi's mom had to go live with her daughter and three little grandchildren in another state; there was no room for Luigi, so he came to Chihuahua Rescue.
Unfortunately, she had loved him too much with people food and poor-quality dog food, so he came to us as very hefty guy at 12.2 lb. He's completed "Chi Rescue Weight Loss Camp" with a goal of losing 2-3 lbs: he has reached his goal weight of 9.6 lbs! Luigi's also got a gimpy right rear leg due to arthritis, so he limps a bit on occasion. His weight loss has really helped with that; he's moving much better than he did when he first came to us. He'll never be great on stairs though. Luigi's shots are now up to date, and he's had his dental cleaning.
Luigi's absolutely favorite spot in all the world is next to his human. He's pretty insistent that that is where he needs to be. If he's not in your lap, he'll want to be on the floor right next to you.
Luigi gets on well with the other dogs at his foster's house. He does well with older kids that can respect his space and painful parts. He met a cat at the vet and seemed pretty disinterested.
Luigi is eligible for the "Seniors for Seniors" and "Pets for Vets" programs.
