We don't have any idea what happened to sweet Douglas ( and his friend Jamie) or how long they wandered as strays......but when they were on the dreaded " Euth list" at a typically overcrowded shelter, we knew we had to help them.

Thanks to a wonderful advocate, a temp foster and a fantastic Pilot and Paws Pilot, Douglas is now safe with ASR.

Douglas is most likely a German Shepherd mixed with Golden Retriever ...he definitely has the body structure of a Golden :-) as well as the coat color.

Right now is a bit reserved initially but has a lovely gentleness about him, despite the many recent changes in his life ( stray/shelter/temp foster/small plane ride /car ride ).

We like to allow new dogs 7-10 days minimum to decompress before meeting potential adopters but what we have seen is that Douglas ( and Jamie) takes treats very gently and are both crate, house trained and walk nicely on a leash.
