Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Apollo’s name reminds me of sunlight—warm, steady, and full of hope.
That hopeful spirit has never wavered. Not at the Lufkin, Texas shelter. And not when Jenni arrived in her van to pick him up. She fed him, after all, and that was good enough for Apollo. Every morning when the staff arrives, the love in his eyes is as constant as the sunrise.
Five months ago, his no longer bonded brother found his forever home. Apollo seemed happy for him, watching from the yard with those gentle, understanding eyes. But ever since, we’ve been hoping Apollo would be next. For 542 days, Apollo has waited—patiently and with faith—that his family will find him.
Apollo is a kind soul with medium energy, a warm demeanor, and a deep love for people. Whether he’s soaking up affection or just being his sweet, giant, and lovable self, he’ll make you fall in love with him over and over again. He’s a great fit with the packs here, standing his ground when needed but never seeking conflict.
If he sees you with a bag of treats—especially the pb and jelly ones—he’ll be glued to your side with expectant eyes. Apollo’s love for people shines as brightly as his name suggests. He’s not just waiting for a home; he’s waiting for a family to share his light with.
Apollo reminds us that even when life doesn’t go as planned, hope is always there. Just as sunlight filters through the darkest clouds, Apollo shines as a reminder that love and joy are still possible.
542 days is too long to be halfway home. He deserves the happy ending his brother found—a family who will see his light and love him for everything he is. If you’re ready to give him the life he’s been waiting for, Apollo is ready to brighten your world. Let’s make his hope a reality. Apply to adopt today!

More about this shelter
We are committed and wholeheartedly dedicated to providing family and emergency services involving rescuing, sheltering, fostering, vetting, adoption and transportation of
"at risk" or "death row" husky and other large dog breeds.
Our goal is to not only provide these services in larger facilities than we currently have but also to use our resources to educate and raise public awareness on the benefits of properly caring for and keeping their pets and/or adopting from shelters and not shopping from breeders.
Our mission is to share our knowledge on the pro's of spay and neuter, the cons of backyard breeding and provide sound advice and services that help the community manage their day to day with their furry family members. Together, we can greatly reduce the number of unaltered, unvaccinated animals in our communities and put a dent in the homeless population by providing access to family services as well as spay, neuter and chip id programs.
