Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Weight: 40 lbs (but she believes she's the heavyweight champion of cuteness!)
Breed: Catahoula Leopard Dog / Retriever
Age: A little over 4 years
Spayed: Yes
Vaccinations: Up to date
***Background***
Bette was rescued from the shelter just in the nick of time! When she arrived at her foster home, she was so thin that she could have auditioned for a role in a doggy version of "Survivor." Now, she's thriving and ready to charm everyone with her delightful personality!
**Personality**
Bette is a very quiet dog, but not necessarily calm. She has some restless anxiousness but calms down as long as she is by your side. Surprisingly, she does well in her crate at bedtime and when left alone. She’s not food aggressive—more of a "let's share the snack" kind of gal! While she may come on strong at first due to being a little fearful of new encounters, once she realizes they are friendly, she's all in for a game. Bette is not a barker like many dogs, although she might occasionally get excited over a squirrel she sees out the window.
Her foster would keep this little girl if they didn't have a full house already because she is simply perfect. This girl's photos do not do her justice; she is truly gorgeous and precious!
**Velcro Dog**
Bette is a quintessential Velcro dog; while the others are jumping in and out of the pet door all day long, she prefers to be close to her humans at all times. With her herding instinct, she believes it is her duty to keep people close to her and safe, making her an incredibly devoted companion. Whether it's following you from room to room or curling up by your side, Bette thrives on human connection and affection.
**Skills and Interests**
Bette is getting much better at leash walking, although she'd rather stop and sniff constantly than do actual walking. She's completely non-reactive to passing other dogs, except for maybe an ear perk before returning to her sniffing obsession. This is amazing, especially considering that her foster sibling loses her mind when they pass another dog!
Bette absolutely LOVES squeaky stuffies, making playtime a joy for her and anyone who joins in on the fun. Whether it’s a walk in the park or a cozy nap, she's ready for it all. If you're looking for a loyal companion who thrives on affection, Bette would be perfect for a family that wants a constant friend. Dog siblings would be perfectly fine, but if she got all the love to herself, she would be a very happy pup!
