Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Jovie is a sweet, mellow girl who loves her snacks, naps and walks. She is the quietest dog I have ever met. You won't hardly get a bark out of her, maybe one single woof in a month.
Jovie LOVES meeting new people. She is so happy to be greeted on our walks. She wants to chase kitties on our walks, but she is currently living with a cat and only whines when it is around. She even controls herself admirably when she gets swatted by the grumpy feline. Jovie also resides with a small dog and does very well with him. She lives with a persistent 4 year old and has learned to tolerate his harassment.
Jovie has periodic seizures. The vet has a tentative diagnosis of epilepsy. They don't hurt her and only last a few minutes. She can go months without a seizure. She is not currently on any anti-seizure medication because they are so infrequent. There are a wide number of medications that can be prescribed if they happen more often. Because of the seizures, she can't be in a home with an unfenced pool.

More about this rescue
The vision for ACT has been brewing in the minds of the Animal Compassion Team founders for many years. The paths we have walked have prepared us and tested our determination through hard work, buckets of tears, mountains of fecal matter (a favorite topic of discussion amongst animal rescuers), and more than our fair share of discouragement and heartbreak. Having said that, why would we choose to dive in deeper? For the love of the animals we serve. It is just that simple. Dogs, cats, and other wonderful animals are dying in huge numbers daily. We hope to help change that. In August of 2009, we became a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation with California and the Federal Government. It was and continues to be, a huge leap of faith for all of us who already feel overwhelmed by the work we are doing, but we believe this is the time....this is what we have all been preparing for. One life saved makes all the effort and emotional investment worthwhile. This is going to be an exciting journey, and we hope to post MANY happy endings.
Our Mission Statement:
To provide a safe haven for domestic animals, regardless of breed or species, through rescue, rehabilitation, adoption, and sanctuary. To advocate for the humane treatment of animals and promote the human-animal bond. To educate the public about the importance of kindness, compassion, and responsible pet ownership which will emphasize spaying and neutering. To cooperate and work with other animal rescues and shelters towards the goal of becoming a no-kill nation.
