Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Madison aka Maddie is 23 lbs and approximately 18 months old. She is adorable and has a unique look all her own! And honestly we are making our best guess on her breed. She has the look of a Rat Terrier mix or Basenji mix and even possibly Shiba Inu mix. Although we are uncertain about her breed, we do know she’s a beautiful, sweet girl looking for a family to love!
Maddie is now warm and safe in a foster home after being dumped by a farmer who decided she didn’t make a good farm dog and had no use for her. Well he was correct, she’s not farm dog material. She prefers the family dog lifestyle! Maddie loves to be close to her humans and snuggle on the couch. But don’t be fooled! She’s also a young, active and agile dog who could benefit from long walks and hikes.
As she adapts to her new way of life in her foster home, everything is a new experience. She recently learned how to play with toys & now loves to play tug. She had no idea about car rides or leashes but she’s adjusting. She’s working on sharing her humans and toys with the others. A patient, loving and active family, wiling to guide Maddie through new life experiences, is our wish for her. We also think Maddie would be happy in a home where she would be their “one and only”.
A securely fenced yard is recommended for this girl who loves to run and play. No electric fences.
Maddie is living with cats in her foster home and will actually snuggle with one but chases the other so her behavior with cats may be unpredictable.
Maddie also lives with another dog in her foster home and has been introduced to friend’s dogs. As we observe her, it’s apparent she is still learning how to read other dogs and needs to take it slow to feel safe.
She recently finished her heat cycle and will need to be spayed in late January. Our rescue will cover the cost of her spay if it’s done at the vet office we use for the rescue (Midwest Veterinary Hospital). She is up to date on all other vetting, including vaccinations, heartworm and flea prevention.
