My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Why hello there! Thank you for clicking on my profile, let me introduce myself so that we can get to know each other better.

My name is Harlow and I am a 13 week old female Great Dane mix who came to my friends at NBS Animal Rescue when I was found as a stray. Can you believe it? I was very scared all by myself as a little lady on the streets, but luckily a kind person found me and got me to the right people who made sure I saw the doggy doctor, got a nice warm sweater, and a comfy bed with lots and lots and lots of toys to play with! Sadly my family never came looking for me so I'm on the look out for a new fur-ever family who will take great care of me for the rest of my life. Could that be with you???

My foster dad says I am wicked smart! I would get an A+ in puppy school! I know how to sit, lay down, and am doing really well at getting the hang of this doing my "business" outside or on a pee pad. My foster mom said it's important I learn how to sleep in a crate on my own, and although I don't like it one bit, I understand that it helps keep me safe when my foster parents are at work so I've learned how to settle down after a few minutes of protesting.

I LOVE toys! Stuffed toys, squeaky toys, bones, rubber balls, bully sticks, fleece snuffle toys, kongs, tennis balls too - do you want to play with me??? I am learning how to walk on a leash too. I get a little excited and want to pull ahead, but my foster dad says that's normal for a pup my age and with practice I'll get the hang of walking nicely by my human's side.

My foster family has a Great Dane brother and a mini-poodle. I love to try and get my Great Dane brother to play with me - he's super fun! I try to get my mini-poodle friend to play, but he's not very playful so I chase him - mom says that's naughty so I would do best in a home with a dog that likes to play and is sturdy so I don't accidentally hurt my canine friends. I've never met a cat before...but my foster dad say's I would probably try to play with it and we would need a slow introduction.

Now, I know I am super cute - everyone who see's my picture tells me I'm adorable. But, I will grow to be quite large so I need a family who is familiar with the Great Dane breed and will be committed to helping me go to puppy manner school, and complete a foster to adopt contract until I am old enough to finish all of my vaccines and get spayed. I am looking for a home with a fenced yard, kids 12+, and a family who is home often (no longer than 4-5 hours alone), and a family with Great Dane experience is preferred. My adoptive family must also agree to take me to puppy classes.

If you think your family meets all of the requirements above, please visit our website www.nbsar.org to complete an adoption application. Applications that do not meet all of the criteria listed above will not be processed as our volunteers have limited time cause they are loving on me! :-)
