My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Good With Kids: Did well with kids he's met. Suggest older kids.
Good With Other Dogs: Yes, not a big fan of high energy dogs
Good With Cats: Unknown. Uninterested in squirrels so might like cats.
Housetrained: Yes
Crate Trained: Yes
Walks Nicely On A Leash: Yes when wearing harness.
Knows Basic Commands: Mostly
Energy Level (Couch Potato, Moderate or High): Moderate
Special Needs: Ear cleansing to avoid infections. Current getting every other week nail trims to shorten the quicks to obtain better standard nail length.
Physical Fence: Ideal but would likely do well on tie-out or walks.
Favorite Activity: Nap on the couch with favorite blanket and neck rubs.

Arrival story: Junior was found on the streets of Detroit by a good Samaritan who provided a safe place and vet care prior to arriving at Waggin' Tails.

Approximate age / Weight: 8ish yrs old and 55 lbs.

Personality: Junior is super sweet, loving and is just happy to be by your side. He loves destroying stuffed toys, chewing on Benebones, and noshin' on stuffed Kongs or lick mats. Our boy is super super food motivated and his tail rarely stops wagging. He enjoys a romp in the yard, a walk around the block, a car ride, and most of all a nap on the couch with his favorite blanket. He’ll curl up next to you and loves tushy and neck rubs best. Junior is house trained and crate trained, is content being on his own for periods of time, is a champ at the vet, and is getting better at his routine ear washes and nail trims – he never hated them, just doesn’t want to sit still for them.

Nicknames: Junie, June Bug, Uncle June, the list could go on. You call, he comes.

Smart boy is learning the basic queues (like sit) and has excellent recall, doing well keeping eyes on his handler in one-on-one training class, not barking at other dogs on leash. Junior takes treats quickly so little kids may not be best match to live day-to-day but he's met younger kids and been great with them.

Forever Home: Junior is filled with tons of love to give his next family and will quickly become your best bud! While pretty low maintenance and not really up for big adventures he sure does enjoy a car ride and walks and would love nothing more than to be your partner in crime!

More about this rescue

Waggin' Tails Dog Rescue is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit rescue organization. Our dedicated volunteers rescue, rehabilitate, foster, and re-home all breeds of homeless dogs from area shelters or as owner-surrenders. Waggin' Tails is supported solely through donations and fund-raising efforts. Our volunteers receive no monetary payment for their activities. Instead, their reward is the knowledge that a dog's life has been saved that otherwise would have been lost.
