In Murfreesboro - Rusty is a super cute red tri Australian Shepherd mix who is looking for his perfect forever home. He is about 1 ½ - 2 years old but is pretty low energy for his young age (he does get the zoomies though!); he’s gets really excited for daily walks and is a perfect loose-leash walker. He loves playtime in the yard to fetch tennis balls or roll in the grass and is also learning that adventures in the car are super fun! He was a little thin when he left the shelter but is working diligently to gain a couple pounds, he LOVES meal time! He’s a medium-sized Aussie, currently 52 pounds.
Rusty will do absolutely anything for love and cuddles (especially some quality brushing time). He’s a super high velcro Aussie and wants to be wherever you are, so watch your step! If you sit down, he will be right by your side… or giving you a hug… or giving you an overload of kisses.
Because he loves people so much, he has a hard time when they leave him at home (but does stop yelping soon), so he will need continued work on his separation anxiety however he is crate trained and sleeps well in his crate overnight. He’s starting his training basics, has “sit” mastered and is working on “down”, “stay”, “come” and “shake.” He is a quick learner and would really like someone to keep training him!
Rusty has a hard time getting along with dogs that are larger than him. He would be a super easy dog if he was the only dog in the home, but if the home has smaller dogs a meet-and-greet will be necessary to determine compatibility.
He doesn’t jump up on people (other than the rare occasion when he forgets his manners) so would be ok for families or someone who works from home. A fenced yard would be amazing, but Rusty would also be ok in an apartment as long as he gets daily exercise and playtime.

There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to his new family. All adoption fees are used for future rescue efforts.
