Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Hank is so small and cute, shelter volunteer thought he was a puppy! See video!
Hank is perfect, he's very sweet, loves people and dog friendly. He about 2 yrs old, has a dark brindle/black color short coat, with pretty hazel eyes. He was very thin, anemic (due to worms), and run down when he first arrived, but he's completely vetted and now recovered from his anemia. He's gained weight, up to 40 lbs now, he's active and playful, loves everyone and loves attention. He's good with other dogs, and would enjoy a play buddy his own size. He likes to play with his food bowl but could substitute other play toys as well. He's good on a leash and likes to go fast, he'd do really well in a fenced in yard where he can run and exercise. He's a little too intense with cats, so not recommended. He is good with other dogs, and would like a playmate.

More about this rescue
Blue Ridge Dog Rescue is an all-volunteer, non-profit, non-euthanizing rescue based in Charlottesville, VA. We provide a safe haven for our homeless pets while they are awaiting a permanent home. They are mostly young adults, but occassionally we'll have a senior that needs a retirement home! They are saved from high-kill shelters/pounds or from owner give-up situations. While in our care, they receive a health checkup, spay/neuter, all shots, de-worming and heartworm/tick disease testing. Please check our Pets List, and contact us for a personal meeting. If you don't see exactly what you are looking for, please email us and we'll help you find that perfect pet. If you can't adopt at this time, please consider volunteering with us or sponsoring an animal.
Please note: We are busy folks and don't have "regular business hours". For this reason, we don't show the dogs until an application has been submitted. Submitting an application does not obligate you to adopt a dog, but it does tell us that your interest in adopting an animal is serious. We thank you for being considerate of our time and efforts.
We do rescue cats/kittens when the need arises, but this is not our primary function. Please contact the regular Cat Rescue groups in your area for help.
