Update from Red's Foster:
My name is RedHawk! (Red for short) I am a Shepard mix and I weigh 67 pounds. I have received all my puppy vaccinations; I am neutered; and I am in search of my first home!
I am a good-natured healthy pup. I LOVE RUNNING!!! I love water! I love riding in the car! I LOVE my tummy rubs! I wear my harness with pride. I am very smart. I am good at listening; I am most attentive to sound, then sight; I know some command structure; I seem aloof but I am actually polite. I seem shy but I am actually a deep thinker awaiting gentle engagement. I was born March 30, 2022. I have lived with my foster family since I was 2 weeks old; I was weened from my Mom successfully; I live in a small rural environment so I am not as familiar with the outside world, or desensitized to city living or loud noises, or the socialization as other puppies my age.
I am apprehensive about teenagers and children mostly because of the loudness and pitch of their voices; I am still nervous about cars, buses, trains; I am not familiar with other animals, but with proper introduction I can learn to socialize. I would be best suited with an athlete? as a working dog in the field? with a small family? and/or a low impact zen household? I like one on one relationships; I need devoted attention for the duration of my puppyhood (at least next six months). I also need a lot of outdoor space to run and the expectation that I will be a large dog at maturity and that is manageable long-with-standing.

More about this rescue
The Milo Foundation is an established 501(c)(3) nonprofit, no-kill organization providing an alternative for homeless pets throughout California, through education, adoption services, and providing sanctuary for animals until permanent homes can be found.
Founded in August of 1994, The Milo Foundation Sanctuary is located on two hundred and eighty-three acres in Mendocino County - offering lots of room for the animals to run and play. The Milo Sanctuary animals typically (but not exclusively) are harder to adopt animals and those needing more rural type homes, such as dogs with social or behavioural challenges, feral cats, horses and other farm animals. The Milo Point Richmond Adoption Center is where the majority of our new rescue intake takes place, typically friendly, adoptable cats and dogs, puppies and kittens rescued from shelters where they were facing euthanasia. The Sanctuary is where highly active or reactive dogs can go and have plenty of space, other canine companions (if they are dog friendly) and live in a stress free environment until such time as the right adoption match can be found.
The Milo Sanctuary is what enables Milo to be a No-Kill organization. Milo brings dogs back and forth from the Adoption Center (MPR) to the Sanctuary to give dogs a break from the stresses of the kennel environment and back to MPR later to try again at being adopted. Potential adopters also do come up to the Sanctuary to adopt, by appointment.
