Here's what the humans have to say about me:
******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************
We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog.
Mario, 7 months (approximate DOB March 2023), neutered male, Hound/Retriever mix (taking our best guess), currently 42 pounds but not full grown. He is located in a foster home in Houston, Texas and can transport out of State to an approved adopter.
So many of our dogs have "stories" before they come into rescue. Mario and his two siblings were thrown out of a moving car. Another one of our foster homes witnessed it happen and immediately took them in. She was not able to keep them, so we moved them to their current home. We never understand why people do some of the things they do. Thankfully, none of the puppies were harmed and are currently happy and healthy.
Mario is a typical puppy who has spurts of energy and then naps or chills out for awhile. He is not fully housebroken and has a few accidents from time to time. He does okay when crated. His foster mom uses one of those pens so he has more space to move around.
He is very friendly with other dogs and we think would really benefit from another dog in the home. This will help him continue his positive social skills and another dog will help teach him the ropes.
He has been around kittens and is really sweet with them! He has been around kids and is very sweet. He will jump up. We always recommend homes with kids who understand and are respectful of animal boundaries.
He is incredibly sweet and cuddly and might be the most affectionate out of the group. He just wants to be loved on! He is learning how to sit and starting to get the hang of basic commands.
Mario will need continued work walking on leash. He is looking for a home who is excited for the joys and challenges a puppy brings. A home who is committed to providing structure and basic obedience.
For puppies this age, someone needs to be home more than they are away as crating them for long periods of time is not conducive for their developmental needs. This means if you work outside of the house more than 4 hours a day, you need to indicate on the application who will be home to let him out to potty.
***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. ***
